REECOVER Project to Be Presented at CEDIS3 International Partnerships Event in Türkiye
SITES to Highlight Breakthroughs in Sustainable Rare Earth Recycling and Circular Economy Innovation
Ankara, Türkiye | May 25, 2025 — The Horizon Europe-funded FREECOVER project, focused on advancing eco-friendly hydrometallurgical technologies for sustainable rare earth element (REE) recycling, will be presented at the upcoming CEDIS3 International Partnership Training & Matchmaking Event, held May 29–30, 2025, in Ankara.
The project will be showcased by Sustainable Innovation Technology Services (SITES), which leads the FREECOVER project’s publishing and communications group. SITES will represent the consortium during the event’s poster session and strategic matchmaking activities, engaging with regional development agencies, innovation stakeholders, and funding bodies.
FREECOVER addresses the urgent need for greener technologies in the extraction and recovery of critical raw materials. With increasing global dependence on rare earth elements for clean energy, digital, and defense technologies, the project aims to:
- Develop eco-friendly hydrometallurgical processes that reduce environmental impact;
- Improve the efficiency and selectivity of rare earth recovery from end-of-life products and industrial residues;
- Strengthen Europe’s circular economy by enabling sustainable, scalable solutions for critical raw material supply;
- Support industrial symbiosis and innovation through collaborative research across public and private sectors.
The project directly contributes to the EU’s Green Deal, Critical Raw Materials Act, and Circular Economy Action Plan, and offers a timely response to growing concerns around resource security and environmental sustainability.
Participation in the CEDIS3 event reflects FREECOVER’s commitment to fostering cross-border innovation and knowledge exchange aligned with Smart Specialisation strategies.
