FREECOVER at ISMEC 2025

Advancing Sustainable Solutions for Rare Earth Recovery

The FREECOVER project was proudly represented at the International Symposium on Thermodynamics of Metal Complexes (ISMEC 2025), held in Granada, Spain, from June 9th to 12th.

Researchers from both UNIUD (Università degli Studi di Udine) and UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) actively participated in the symposium, contributing with presentations and discussions related to the innovative work being conducted under the FREECOVER project. The project’s focus on eco-friendly hydrometallurgical processes for Rare Earth Element (REE) recovery was particularly relevant within the conference’s themes.

The attending team included:

  • From UNIUD: Andrea Melchior, Marilena Tolazzi, and José Alejandro Ricardo Garcia
  • From UAB: Montserrat Lopez Mesas, Manuel Valiente, Iris Valido, Mónica González-Quintela, and Camila Cazorla-Ares

Their presence at ISMEC 2025 highlights the growing recognition of FREECOVER’s scientific contributions, especially in the area of sustainable chemistry and coordination chemistry. The participation of the project’s researchers at such high-level international events reinforces the visibility of the project within the broader research community and helps foster dialogue and knowledge exchange.
