FREECOVER at ECOMONDO 2025

Powering Europe’s Green Future Through Rare Earth Recycling

The FREECOVER Project is proud to be part of ECOMONDO 2025, the leading European expo for ecological transition, taking place from 4 to 7 November 2025 in Rimini, Italy. As Europe works to secure sustainable access to critical raw materials, FREECOVER stands at the forefront with innovative solutions for Rare Earth Element (REE) recycling.

Funded by the European Union, FREECOVER is developing cutting-edge, eco-friendly hydrometallurgical processes that recover REEs from end-of-life products and industrial waste streams. By leveraging ionic liquid-based extraction, membrane filtration, and circular economy principles, the project supports the EU’s strategic autonomy and environmental goals, reducing dependency on raw material imports while promoting innovation in renewable energy, electronics, and mobility sectors.

Among FREECOVER’s key partners is SITES, which leads Work Package 5 (WP5): Communication, Dissemination, and Networking. Under the leadership of Leonardo Piccinetti, CEO of SITES, the organization plays a fundamental role in linking the project to major European and international events, like ECOMONDO, to build a strong, engaged network of stakeholders. This network helps maximise the impact of FREECOVER’s results, ensuring their visibility, adoption, and replication in future sustainable initiatives.

Join us at ECOMONDO 2025 to explore how FREECOVER and its partners are accelerating Europe’s green transition, through sustainable resource recovery, impactful communication, and strategic collaboration.
